Castle Hill Inn Wedding Photography

It is host to both large affairs in its Sperry tent as well as intimate wedding celebrations in the chalet and the private dining room, making it one of my favorite venue options in Newport.

The New York Times has called Castle Hill Inn the best spot in town. Known for it's grand lawn, spectacular cuisine, and 5-star service, celebrating your wedding at Castle Hill will set the scene for a glamorous wedding beside the ocean.

It is a designated Relais & Chateaux property, recognized for its outstanding service. It's one of the best venue options in Newport, replete with great photo opportunities, and will be sure to impress your guests with its fantastic service and great ocean views.

I'm a professional photographer photographing weddings throughout Newport, RI, and Castle Hill Inn is one of my favorite wedding venues.

Pitched high on a cliff overlooking the ocean, Newport’s Castle Hill Inn Newport has it all; views, elegance, a lighthouse, among the best cuisine you’ve ever experienced, and even Grace Kelly Beach, where she spent time while filming High Society.

Originally constructed as a summer home in 1874, a luxury wedding venue was probably not on the mind of the builder, but it seems to be Castle Hill Inn's destiny. It is one of Newport Rhode Island's premier wedding venues.

The inn is a quintessential New England beauty, embracing rich wood tones and architectural elements, beautiful seasonal blooms, and expansive lawn.

5 Tips for Your Castle Hill Inn Wedding Photos

visit the lighthouse

01.

Whether you're doing a first look or taking your couple's portraits during cocktail hour, the lighthouse is unique to this Rhode Island wedding venue. Castle Hill will provide a golf cart to bring you up to the lighthouse. Facing the bridge, there is a beautiful view of the inn. On the other side is the historic lighthouse and stairs overlooking a cliff, often with sailboats passing by in the background.

take a stroll to grace kelly beach

02.

Take a few intimate moments as bride and groom at Grace Kelly Beach, just a short walk from the Chalet Terrace, where tented receptions take place. Many couples find taking photos with the hushed lapping of the Atlantic Ocean beside them a highlight of their wedding day.

have both your ceremony and reception at castle hill

03.

Plan to have your outdoor ceremony on the lawn adjacent to the tent at Castle Hill. The lawn is the perfect spot for both grand celebrations or an intimate ceremony. Featuring great views views of Narragansett Bay, the stone arch is a stunning frame for photos of the couple and bridal party.

make time to take photos all over the property

04.

The varied land and seascapes offer many great photo opportunities. The gardens are a quick walk from the chalet terrace and have beautiful blooms in each season. The beach and lighthouse are only a short golf cart ride away. I love the little nooks and crannies around the chalet terrace at Castle Hill for photos of the bride and groom. The little doorways, arches, and vibrant landscape are a few of my favorites.

go outdoors for sunset photos

05.

Don't forget to steal away for a few minutes during sunset, which is the best lighting for photos of the day. Castle Hill Inn is a venue known for its views and sunsets!

Classic elegance with a first look at Grace Kelly Beach

Noha & Alex began their Newport, RI wedding with a rehearsal dinner celebration at the Hotel Viking courtyard. I met up with Noha and her bridesmaids at their beach cottage for getting ready photos. Alex prepped for the day at the chalet suite. Be sure to check out those blue velvet shoes!

They choose Grace Kelly Beach for their first look and then we hopped into the golf cart for portraits at the lighthouse.

Flowers by Stoneblossom in pale blue and sherbert tones adorned the historic stone arch and lined the ceremony aisle. Their guests enjoyed signature cocktails and the warm, summer ocean air. Their summer Castle Hill Inn wedding featured stunning florals hung from the tent ceiling, floral bridesmaids dresses, and lovely watercolor invitations.

They capped off their special day with night photos under the full moon and danced their way into the evening with their family and friends.

An Indian-American Castle Hill Inn wedding

Carolyn and Sankarsh had a two-day celebration in Newport, RI. Carolyn prepared for the day in the popular Chalet Suite while Sankarsh enjoyed some time with his closest friends at the bar. I love the dark, handsome wood tones at Castle Hill Inn Newport for photos of the groomsmen.

They joined for photos at Grace Kelly Beach for their first look. Afterwards, we headed up to the hydrangea grove, adjacent to the Harbor House. The electric blue hydrangeas - in season through the summer into early fall - popped off the lush greenery, making for some of my favorite wedding photos of the day.

The couple also made time to sneak off to the lighthouse. The lighting, great views, and most perfectly timed sailboat set the scene for classic oceanside wedding photographs.

Their ceremony had panoramic views of the lovely July day. I especially loved how the florals enhanced the natural landscape of the venue.

The couple and their guests listened to lovely toasts over dinner and then danced the night away. They capped the night off with a delicious donut bar.

An intimate dinner wedding in the Castle Hill Inn dining room

Caroline and Chris came all the way from England for their intimate Newport, RI wedding. They selected me for their Castle Hill Inn wedding photography because they most enjoyed black and white photos and my elegant, documentary photography style. They selected the private dining room for their intimate affair.

We started the day with photographs of the bride getting ready in the Master Bedroom in the Agassiz Mansion. The groom and his closest friends relaxed at a rental house in Newport.

We then hopped in a vintage car and headed to St. Columba's, a quaint and historic chapel, where they were married amongst their closest family and friends. We took bridal party photos at the church and then the couple joined cocktail hour with their guests.

We snapped a few portraits of the couple on the lawn before Caroline exchanged her cathedral veil for a fascinator.

The bride and groom then celebrated into the evening over fine cuisine while they listened to a number of lively and memorable toasts from their guests.
